Thursday's Brown Bag: Seattle Tree Regulations Proposal

City of Seattle staff will discuss their proposal to revise existing regulations governing the preservation and planting of trees on private property, both during development and outside of it, in order meet the goals of the Urban Forest Management Plan and other city-wide goals. This presentation will also discuss the city’s overall strategy to expand our canopy cover and increase the health of our urban forest.
Presenters:
Brennon Staley is the Sustainable Community Planner for the Seattle Department of Planning and Development (DPD). During his time with DPD, he has been responsible for developing policy and regulations focusing on environmentally critical areas, trees, single family zoning, and sustainable communities.
Tracy Morgenstern is the Urban Forest Program Manager for the Office of Sustainability. In this capacity, she is responsible for coordinating city-wide implementation of the Urban Forest Management Plan and managing the Seattle ReLeaf campaign.

The Seattle Urban Forestry Commission Regular Urban Forestry Commission meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of the month (starting in February) from 3:00 to 5:00 in room 1940 of the Seattle Municipal Tower, 700 Fifth Avenue. Agendas and meeting materials typically will be posted on the Commission's website a week before each meeting.
It's time now for more members of the public to step up and attend these meetings. The Commissioners will be more responsive to public concerns if they see the public is watching them and speaking up at the public comment period and submitting written materials and listening and watching them at work.
